In January of 2012, a brain tumor was discovered on Ian’s brain stem. The tumor was biopsied at Inova Fairfax Hospital, and after a week of pathology testing, Ian was diagnosed with Germinoma, a type of germ cell tumor typically resulting from a failure of germ cells to migrate properly in the body. Ian will be moving from Inova Fairfax Hospital to MCV at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia to begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments with the goal of eradicating the tumor.
